According to Strunk and White's Elements of Style, speaking in the passive voice is mandatory when writing about sport.
You're telling me the word, "poignancy" need not be qualified?
Again, when you have something big to say about a sporting event, absolutely everything must absolutely qualified, completely absolutely.
